Definitely not seeing the view from the huta

Once again I'm not in the huta. S. and I took the ferry to Vancouver at 5. K. is arriving around 11 pm for a visit but she is coming in so late that she cannot get to Victoria tonight hence the sleepover by the airport. The weather has been beautiful today, the ferry ride very pleasant. By chance, on the ferry, I ran into the same gentleman that I met yesterday in the library parking lot and for whom I arranged a short tour of the new wing of our building, thanks again Katy. He and his friend, both of whom I met for the first time yesterday, are UVic alumni. They were having a bit of a trip down memory lane by visiting the campus.

The hotel is ok, but we asked for a change of room because the first was over the vents from the restaurant and stale cooking smells were wafting into the room when we opened the window. Now we have air from the highway!

The room has a loft with a king-sized bed and a pull out couch below. The loft is quite warm even with the air conditioning and a fan on.

The day started with watering the garden, then a bit of exercise, then over to Pet's life for kitty litter, then to Sue's, then a short walk to Fernwood coffee shop for second breakfast: lattes, apple bran muffin, goat Brie, cherries, salmon, cheese croissant. While there, we were entertained by a guy trying to fly a toy remote-controlled airplane that kept crashing into the pavement. Then we talked to a guy about some chairs on his property. I saw one chair on the porch that looked like a teak easy chair from the 60's and Sue saw some antiques in the driveway and at first we didn't realize we were commenting on totally different chairs so while Sue is looking at an antique chair I am saying that it looks like a chair from the 60's and she's thinking "hm, I am not seeing that" but politely not disagreeing with me. After we got back to the condo and I groomed the cats, getting a fistful of fine long hair off Appa, we left again to go back to Oak Bay. On the way we stopped at French Vanilla (no food here, just used but pretty goods) to look at a table and/or bench for Sue, then drove to De'lish to meet M. and A. F. for lunch, then home to pack for this overnight trip, then cleaned the kitchen and in-between returned a few things to the library. Whew! Busy day!

But what I didn't get done is get provisions ready for the trip. Very uncharacteristic of me. As a result we were at the mercy of cafeteria ferry food (no buffet on this ship) and it was not satisfying. So here we have a kitchenette and no supplies to speak of.

We are about to take the shuttle to the airport. Speaking of airport: tragic accident at Victoria airport yesterday, someone lost control of the car and killed one person and injured 7 others.
